Below are security product related training courses that took place at MLA Expo.

MLA Expo previously took place at the Telford International Centre from the 2nd to the 4th of October. Over the course of Expo over 40 training courses were on offer during the 3 days.


Basic Intro to Access Control

Alpro Architectural Hardware (a division of IEC Limited) is an independent supplier of both mechanical and electro-mechanical products in the UK commercial aluminium OEM marketplace and access control environment.

The Alpro product range comprises a variety of contemporary handle styles, which are both hard wearing and aesthetically pleasing, with bespoke designs available to your own specifications.

The Alpro range also includes deadlocks, deadlatches, lock accessories, cylinders, transom door closers, flushbolts, armoured strikes, digital locks, lever and paddle handles. All of which have been designed for the commercial aluminium door industry.

Nigel Rose (MS) Ltd was founded in 1981 and has been wholesaling product to Locksmiths ever since.

Nigel Rose – Managing Director, originally founded the company with his wife – Wendie Rose, and then his son Simon Rose joined the Company in 1998 and has since become a Director.

We offer a comprehensive nationwide lock wholesale service, should you want a representative to call just ring or email us. Back at base are Beverley Chan, who manages the accounts side and John Amass who works on Goods In and Dispatch. A small but dynamic team who are determined to offer Locksmiths the best service possible.

Course Duration: Up to 2.5 Hours

Course Content:

This course is designed to enable competent locksmiths to repin Brisant Ultion Cylinders and to fully understand the features and benefits of this TS007 3 Star, Sold Secure Diamond cylinder.

  • A full description of what TS007 3 Star and Sold Secure specifications are and how a cylinder can pass both specifications. Also that without the kite mark they can legitimately repin Brisant Ultion Cylinders.
  • To show an Ultion cylinder and describe all of its features.
  • The Instructor will then give a demonstration of how to take a cylinder apart which will entail deliberately firing the relocking pin. At this point advice will be given on how to open the cylinder if it should be attacked and broken at both sacrificial break points and then a demonstration of how to reset it.
  • The Instructor will then repin and re-assemble the cylinder.
  • Then each student will be tasked with the same operation as just shown and the instructor will ensure that any help will be given for the task to be completed.

Course Content:

The versatile nature of our replacement MPL, retrofit handles, espags, window handles and friction stays mean that locksmiths and installers can keep just one of each on their vans to complete the majority of jobs. The adaptable features help to reduce the need to make a return visit; saving time and increasing the number of jobs our customers are able to fit into their week.

During this training session we will explain the versatile concept behind our products and demonstrate how easy it is to fit them as a replacement. The session will also entail a workshop for attendees to try the products for themselves and speak with our experts directly.

The Ins and Outs of InstaCode

Jeremy (who’s come all the way from New Zealand!) is one of the world’s foremost experts in vehicle transponders and InstaCode.

Course Duration: 2 Hours

Course Content:

InstaCode is market leading software, written by locksmiths for locksmiths. The real shame of it is that despite it being used by thousands of locksmiths all over the world, 90% of us only use it decode a code number! This class will lift the lid on InstaCode and uncover several useful features that you’ve never seen before.
